By popular demand, we are welcoming well known North East writer Glenda Young, back to the Library to talk about the first book in her new trilogy called The Toffee Girls. The book is inspired by Horner’s Toffee Factory
and Dainty Dinah toffee of Chester-Le-Street, County Durham and is set around WW1.
Glenda has an impressive reputation as an award-winning short story writer. Her stories have appeared in magazines including Take a Break, My Weekly, The People’s Friend, Best and newspapers including The Sunday Post, The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, The Mirror and The Express. Glenda was also the creator of the first ever weekly soap opera, Riverside, to appear in The People’s Friend magazine..
Glenda is also a life-long fan of the soap opera Coronation Street, and was commissioned by ITV to write the official TV-tie-in books about the show.
