As part of the Library’s initiative to be more dementia friendly, we have recently added to our collection of books a range that is specifically around dementia as well as some on nostalgia.

We are hoping that these books will inform people of what dementia is but also provide support to people living with dementia and their carers, plus be invaluable to trigger memories and conversations. Click here to find out more.

We’ve recently added a new collection of books titled ‘Reading well for mental health’. These are books that provide helpful information & support for managing common mental health conditions or dealing with difficult feelings & experiences. The books have been recommended by health professionals & people with experience of the conditions covered. There are books for adults, young people & children. Those for adults & young people are located in the health section in adult non-fiction and those for children are part of the parent collection in the children’s area, though they are very much written with children in mind. More information can be found at www.reading-well.org.uk.
