Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Having seen nothing but glowing reviews of this book for months I couldn’t wait to read it. It was certainly worth the wait! This is not my usual style of reading, I generally prefer crime/thrillers/mystery books but I am very glad I decided to give it a go.

This is the story of a young girl called Kya who through a series of saddening events finds herself growing up alone in the marshes of North Carolina. The descriptions of the natural world around her are truly captivating – you feel transported to that place which is filled with both a deep loneliness & an underlying hope.

From the rich descriptions, to the beautiful use of language this perfectly paced book has all the hallmarks of a future classic.
